The Breastfeeding & Child Nutrition Foundation (BCNF) was founded in 2015 to increase breastfeeding rates and improve child nutrition in Barbados and the region. Alison, a paediatrician by profession, is passionate about advocacy and support for breastfeeding mothers and families. Much of the BCNF’s work is centered around advocacy for the rights of every child to adequate early childhood nutrition — the foundation for good health and well-being, sustaining and empowering individuals to reach their greatest potential. BCNF’s monthly support group sessions cover topics such as breastfeeding, tantrums, back-to-work challenges, speech & language therapy, weaning and so much more. While their advocacy strives to normalise breastfeeding-friendly spaces to support the continuation of breastfeeding.
