Seven civil society organisations representing six thematic areas will soon be better equipped to represent their constituents.
The ASPIRE (Foundation) Barbados Inc. Incubator Programme Cohort 3 launches this month, where seven participating organisations will have access to pro-bono business support valued at $60,000, a small seed grant of $10,000 and certification in core governance standards.
The ASPIRE Barbados’ 2022 Incubator Programme Fellows are The Caribbean Neurological Foundation Inc, The Coral Reef Restoration Alliance, EKCO Nation, Lifelong Skills Training Inc., Slow Food Barbados, The Schoolhouse for Special Needs Inc, and Union Collaborative. The seven (7) finalists are tackling pressing regional issues across diverse sectors including Climate & Environmental Sustainability; Education; Arts, Culture, Heritage; Social Welfare & Development; Special Needs Community; Urban Renewal & Development; Food & Agriculture; Health & Healthcare.
At the end of the 12-month intensive Programme, the charitable organisations will be better equipped in areas such as Good Governance, Financial Management, Strategic and Impact Planning, Communications, Human resources, and Fundraising.
“One of the most inspired, real activities for non-profits in Barbados for many years,” said Kerryann Ifill of the Barbados Council for the Disabled. “You didn’t throw money at the problem; you helped us find where the problem is and tried to fix it.”
